We are All Sisters Here

All Sisters Here is a new branch of Greater Manchester Doulas, created so women and girls outside the childbearing year can find support that speaks to them. We offer a safe, non-judgemental space to talk, process, and connect — through life changes, trauma recovery, grief, menopause, and more.

Our work with women began back in 2018, supporting them in pregnancy, birth and early postpartum. We soon realised that the hurdles women face during pregnancy and birth stem from issues they were already facing in womanhood (and likely girlhood too).
Women and girls are socialised to be kind and good, which usually translates to being quiet and doing what you’re told. These messages run deep and they affect every element of our lives. The issues that keep coming up are a lack of confidence, a distrust in our intuition, a fear of making mistakes and getting things wrong, and being afraid to assert our boundaries.
When we lived within a village we would have grown up with and been surrounded by wise women who trusted their intuition and it kept them safe, and so we would not be afraid to do the same. However, the loss of knowledge being passed on (a large part due to the condemnation of these women as witches) is felt deeply. We were never supposed to live in isolation, being told what to do by others. Our mission is to support women and girls to assert agency in every area of their lives. We are here to support you to do so, wherever you are at right now. To talk about any of the following support options, book an initial chat with us.

Are you going through some big life changes at the moment? Or have you been living in survival mode for a long time?

This can feel overwhelming, and often it only hits you afterwards. We are here to support you through whatever is coming up for you right now, including abortion support. If you are looking for a one-off session to offload, you might find a Holding Space session helpful.

If you are looking for some long-term, unlimited support then have a look at our By Her Side support plan. We have funding options available for both of these offerings!

Trauma can come from many different places and is complicated to recover from. It can take a long time to get to the point where you are ready to start that journey, and if you’re at that point then we have a few ways we can support you on your path to healing.

For some, taking the sting out of the memories is an important step in order to process effectively – if this is something you’re interested in then the Rewind Technique might be beneficial.

If you are being or have been subjected to abuse, we run the Own My Life course. This is a 12-week course for small groups of women to come together and regain ownership of their lives by giving them the skills to understand abuse, make sense of their lives, and move forward with hope and positivity. We will be starting with a pilot with an intake of only five women. If you are interested in joining, or know someone who is, please fill in or send them this form.

Grief can be really complicated, and often those around you don’t know how to hold space for the huge things that you are feeling. We know how important it is to have a space where you can just be heard, without anyone trying to fix it. Grief can have many different origins, not just loss, and we are here to support you as you process your experiences, whatever they might be.

We can support you with a one-off session in the form of a Holding Space, or if you feel that you need something longer-term as part of your support network then our With Woman support plan might be beneficial.

The menopause is something that is not talked about often, but whenever it is it’s only the ever with a sense of dread. In the same way that how we feel about our periods can be massively influenced by the views of those around us before it happens, as can the way we feel about the menopause. You might have had a complicated relationship with your own periods, or your body in general, and might be embracing the menopause! Or you might feel grief. Or you might be feeling a million things at once, and that’s okay – you’re a whole and complex woman.

We are here to hold space for whatever your menopause journey is bringing up for you, for all of the good and all of the bad. If you’d like more information about what a holding space session is and how you could use one, you can find out here. If you’d like our ongoing support during this time of change in your life, check out our By Her Side support plan.

The menopause journey brings complex feelings – we offer a space to explore them openly.

We know how powerful it can be to be surrounded by women, supporting each other and lifting each other up. There is a reason this sort of behaviour was labelled witchcraft and condemned – because it’s really bloody powerful.

We are building a community of women who are taking responsibility for their own wellbeing, are honing their assertiveness skills and are becoming more and more confident each day. Would you like to be a part of this sisterhood? We’d love to welcome you in! Find all of our community groups here.

All of our services, except our community groups, have a fee associated with them. However, if that fee would not be comfortably possible for you to pay please get in touch with us. We are continuously applying for funding in order to keep our services accessible to all women.
